Do you see what He sees?

“See, I have given Jericho into your hand, with its king and the mighty warriors. “  (Joshua 6:2)

“See?” you might say,  “You mean see that massive wall surrounding the city that is actually two 6 foot thick walls?  That huge wall made of stone that looks pretty near impregnable? No I don’t see that you have given it into our hands. Uh, God are we looking at the same thing?”   Do you ever feel like that with God?  He may have a promise for you and you are thinking as Inigo said “I do not think that word means what you think it means.”

I wonder sometimes what exactly God is seeing here in Malisheve that we do not yet see.  He has promised us abundant fruit for our labor but most of it we cannot yet see.  If you think about it though, it is of little consequence what we ourselves are able to see.  All that matters is what God sees.  He is the one who sees the end from the beginning. Our job is to obey what He tells us to do even if the directions seems weird.  Basically Joshua’s warriors were told to go for a really long walk.  Really?  Weird.  Not at all warrior like.  They did it though and the wall came a tumblin’ down.

Perseverance isn’t all that exciting. It can be boring, tedious or even grueling.  I sit down to write this newsletter and think, “Ok what’s new? What can I report on?” We are just walking, continuing...around and around and around we go.  Sometime it seems all for not but we know that one day the walls of hopelessness in peoples lives will come crashing down in a thunderous, earth shattering, sin scattering collapse.  That day we will declare that the Lord got the victory and with tired blistered feet we will jump for joy.
